Founding
Back in 1996, Peter Liegl worked for an RV manufacturer called Cobra Industries. Realizing that he had more to contribute, though, he brought assets from that company to create his own—Forest River. They started with tent campers, travel trailers, fifth wheels, and park models. Their wild successes led to an expansion into motorhomes and even pontoons!
They acquired a number of other RV companies over the years, and in 2005 Forest River itself was acquired by Berkshire Hathaway, one of the largest holding companies in the world.
Now
Forest River was founded to fill a gap in the RV industry, and to do so the company focuses on quality campers built for families of all shapes and sizes. Today, Forest River® RVs fulfill that initial promise with premier building materials and skilled craftspeople at every stage of the construction process. Every Forest River model is durable and designed to last for years to come.

It was created in 2011 in order to create a community built for owners of Forest River RVs, by owners of Forest River RVs.
